Hog Roast Overton Helped Plan A Surprise Christmas Proposal!

Up until now, you might’ve thought that marriage proposals most commonly occurred on Valentine’s Day (it is otherwise known as ‘love day’, after all!), but we’re here to tell you different! Contrary to popular belief, Christmas Day holds the number-one title as the most popular date for engagements, and when you think about it, it’s not terribly surprising as to why this is the case. With the whole family together for once, and magic hanging thick in the air, there really is no better time to pop the question.

On that note, we’re delighted to tell you all about the romantic proposal Hog Roast Overton had the chance to not only witness but actually be involved in over the holiday season!

Back in early November, we received a call from Blair, who let us know that he was in charge of hosting Christmas for his family and that he planned to propose to his long-term girlfriend, Jenny. To make things extra special, he wanted Hog Roast Overton to serve our Full Festive Menu, with a few extras, to keep the guests occupied.

Our catering manager, Roy, was eager to help in any way he could, and together, he and Blair customised the classic wintertime feast to better suit the client’s needs. This involved adding canapés, charcuterie boards and a couple of extra dessert options for the guests to choose from.

Hog Roast Overton Fast-forward to Christmas Day, Hog Roast Overton arrived at the client’s grand, Georgian-era home in the small hours of the morning, and after receiving a warm welcome from Blair, we were invited to set up shop in the conservatory, which was well ventilated and looked into the dining room. The team spent all morning prepping and cooking the food, and the results were a melt-in-the-mouth turkey with cranberry sauce, stuffing, cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets, roasties and veg; with chocolate torte, mince pies and profiteroles to follow. They also prepared an Italian cheese board with fresh-baked artisan loaves and a selection of canapés to start.

Then it was time. Once the guests were seated around the table and were about to dig into the delicious spread, Blair took the opportunity to bend the knee. Jenny was so shocked that all she could do was nod her response, which resulted in an eruption of cheers from everyone!

We’re so pleased to have been involved in such a special moment, and with Blair and Jenny all the best for the future!
