Turning 60 feels like a pretty solid excuse to throw a party, doesn’t it? Six decades is no small milestone, and when you’ve got 60 friends and family ready to raise a glass with you, like our latest client did, you’re going to need considerably more than a few packets of crisps and a shop-bought sponge to keep everyone happy.
Because, if there’s one thing we’ve picked up catering these landmark celebrations over the years, it’s that they’re rarely quiet affairs. They’re a chance to gather everyone who’s been part of the journey, toast to everything that’s happened so far, and, naturally, eat extremely well while doing it. Which is why when Hog Roast Sherfield on Loddon got the call for this particular 60th birthday celebration, we couldn’t wait to sink our teeth in.
The client wanted the buffet to do all the talking at this event, and couldn’t have picked a better menu to do so – the Southern Slow Roast. So, on the day of the party, Hog Roast Sherfield on Loddon spent hours carefully pulling together a generous spread of comforting, slow-cooked dishes inspired by those rich, soulful Deep South flavours. With 60 guests to feed, there was no
shortage of appetites to satisfy, but honestly, that’s exactly the kind of challenge we live for, and we’d definitely say we delivered.
Right on cue, Hog Roast Sherfield on Loddon put out chafing dishes loaded with piping hot 24-hour beef brisket, Cajun-spiced chicken, sticky Louisiana pork ribs and grilled veggie kebabs (with or without halloumi), plus a range of sauces to go alongside which covered everything from smoky-sweet through to properly hot and spicy. The mains alone gave guests plenty to work with, but that was really only half the story. We also prepared an irresistible assortment of sides, including Greek salad, gourmet coleslaw and a pickle-infused potato salad for anyone looking to indulge.
And with a spread like that waiting for them, the guests certainly didn’t need much encouragement. While plates were filled, glasses were raised and the birthday celebrations got properly underway, Hog Roast Sherfield on Loddon quietly kept everything running behind the scenes, which meant the guest of honour didn’t have to spend their big day worrying about whether everyone had been fed or what on earth they were going to do with all those dirty dishes. They could simply enjoy the celebrations, surrounded by 60 of their favourite people – exactly as a 60th birthday should be.
