Hog Roast Sandhurst Served An Unforgettable Spread At A Taekwondo Grading!

Hog Roast Sandhurst was hired to cater for a group of children and adults at a taekwondo grading last Saturday, which was a rare opportunity for our team!

We were told by the client ahead of time that the students train hard all year long before taking part in these gruelling tests, which last several hours and are intended to put the participants through their paces.

There are several stages to these events, which are designed to test the kids on their taekwondo skills. And, at the end of the grading, successful pupils are rewarded with a certificate and a higher-ranking belt.

Hog Roast Sandhurst was busy preparing a feast for everyone in the dining hall, so we didn’t get to see the group in action. But when the kids finally came sprinting into the room, red-faced and ravenous, but still high on adrenaline, we could tell they had worked extremely hard!

Hog Roast SandhurstNot wanting to keep them waiting any longer than necessary, Hog Roast Sandhurst’s catering managers, Roy and James, quickly began carving up the full-size pig, which they had spent the morning slow-roasting over real flames. The juices from the pork had been left to drip into the sage and onion stuffing below, creating an intensely rich and smokey flavour, which our guests always go wild for!

The kids and adults watched in anticipation as Roy and James expertly carved up the meat, separating the juicy pulled pork interior from the crispy and bubbling crackling exterior. Moments later, they found themselves packing the luscious meat onto gluten-free and wholemeal rolls, along with a dollop of applesauce and stuffing, and serving them to the hungry guests on bamboo wooden plates.

Once each guest had received their hog roast roll, they were free to pick from a buffet of sides which consisted of seasonal mixed salad, coleslaw, tomato and mozzarella salad and herb-dressed new potatoes. We had also prepared a vegan alternative of BBQ-pulled jackfruit buns for non-meat-eaters to munch on.

All in all, the event was a resounding success. The client was really happy with the quality of Hog Roast Sandhurst’s food and the service we provided. As for the kids, this wholesome meal was the perfect end to a physically exhausting day.
